Meeting Monday 13th April 2015


Leigh on Mendip WI Monthly Meeting held on Monday 13th April 2015. Held in the Memorial Hall.     (The Meeting was Chaired by Margaret)

Minutes of last meeting: were agreed signed by Margaret as a correct record.
Matters Arising:
·         Bath & West helpers –County need Face Painters.  MM & CH have volunteered in WI tea tent
·         Glastonbury cake stall – MM explained about Puriton WI running a cake stall at Pilton festival. All proceeds to ACWW. Needs funds for stall - Committee suggested we raise money from teas after the Women Walk the World on 26/4. Volunteers willing to donate cakes – tray bakes probably best. Suggest we give one collection date of pm Friday 26th. Mary to check this works with cake collections. Let Mary know if you would like to donate a cake
·         Buckingham Palace Garden Party – CH is now going for group and JW for LOM
Feedback:
·         Centenary Roadshow, 10 March BT attended and gave a report Baton passed from Somerset to Avon Federation. Photos and report on blog
·         Village Clean Up CH reported 17 involved. Covered whole village. MDC collected all rubbish and items marked on map. Helpers were thanked and CH for organising it.
·         Group Meeting (26 March) 7 members attended, CH thanked helpers on Bring & Buy stall raised £17.30. Would be nice if more people attended. Always a good evening
·         Monthly Lunch – Friday 10 April Waggon & Horses. 5 attended. The food was good.
County News:
Fun Golf Croquet Day P3 Fri 15th May,  P3 Archives wanted for Radstock exhibition – CH will look through. Our top table caricature P5. Rhine Cruise P6,  P17 Margaret read out the resolution in full
Forthcoming Events:
·         Coffee Morning, next Monday. BT ML & BL  away, AO  will ask Roger to help with tables
·         Village Quiz 25 April – Members were asked to put together a team.
·         Women Walk the World – Sunday 26 April, 2pm from hall. Cakes required. BT + MM offered. Walk round quarry no stiles. Group institutes invited. Back to MM for refreshments.
·         4 June – Live streaming of AGM. Members were encouraged to attend. Help needed: setting up, door, coffees at start and lunchtime. Cakes needed - claim for costs – BT/JP/SR/MM   Need rota to help with various tasks throughout day. £1 charge for all, + raffle .  Speakers: Lucy Worsley. Historian/TV, Helena Morrissey CBE -CEO and mother of 9!, Tanni Grey-Thomspon wheelchair racer/parliamentarian, and the Lord Mayor of London
·         Village Fair –   13 June .JB reported everything was moving forward ok but they will need lots of help. MM had all the notes from Val from previous years. Rota/Lists ready to be filled in. Help needed for pricing up at Mary’s night before. Rota in May. Caroline asked if members had cloth bags they no longer used for putting the cakes into. She would launder them
·         Monthly Lunch- May 1st The Bell, Leigh
·         Autumn Group Business Meeting (20 July) –JB offered to make drinks at beginning of meeting
·         Frogmary Farm – 24 July Members asked to sign up yes/no/maybe. Lunch orders will be taken May/June mtgs.
·         Century of WI exhibition at Radstock Museum– wanting archives and volunteers. 15 Sept – 29 Nov. If members interested we could organise group visit
Correspondence:
·         NFWI Headquarters - Members’ Open Days November
·         Invites from Buckland Dinham – outing to St Fagans 23/6 £16 and they have a monthly craft group last Saturday of month Next 30th May 10am 4pm £3
·         Wild Flower meadow project – next mtg 20.4 – SR will attend and get feedback. Guided walk Sat 20 June –members encouraged to attend. More information later
·         Thank you received from Happy Landings for items/donations received recently.
·         Invite Cranmore April 14th Image and Style, Dress to Impress
·         National Raffle tickets £1 each buy tonight
·         Climate Change DVD if anyone wants to see it
Treasurer’s Report:
£969.61 in the bank and £21.75 petty cash (includes £30 CM + £75 Bursary).
Arrangements for 11 May AGM + Resolutions
Committee are still short, volunteers needed to stand. Members were asked for two volunteers to lead the discussion for, for and against the resolution. MM will email Resolution briefing notes to all. Members were reminder to dress in a decade from the last 100 years. Committee to provide refreshments and entertainment.
