Feedback
Buckingham Palace. Jane & Caroline were really pleased to
have had the opportunity to attend. A
memorable and unique occasion, especially with 7000 other ladies all dressed in
their finery. Great fun. More information on our Blog and also
Facebook.
AGM. A lovely day in the Village Hall. Felt as if you were there. Thanks for the help on the day including the
refreshments. Caroline has had thanks
from Kilmersdon & Cranmore. Mary
attended at the Albert Hall. Great
atmosphere with the numbers of ladies there and the singing. Started with the business and finances. The Queen, Princess Anne and Sophie, Countess
of Wessex, arrived and were each presented with a bouquet by granddaughters of
WI members. The Queen gave a speech and
was taken behind the scenes for the cutting of a special cake. The speakers were brilliant. Lucy Worsley is making a documentary on the
Centenary of the WI, to be shown on TV later in the month. The presentation of the Resolution got
complicated with the changes requested to 2 words to clarify the type of
care. Some members were clearly very
dis-satisfied with this late change but overall it was regarded as a good
resolution but needed more clarification.
In the end the business was moved on and no vote taken.
Lunch 5 June. 5 members went
to The George at Nunney and had an enjoyable time.
Forthcoming Events
Coffee Morning. Monday 15 June.
Monthly Lunch. Friday 3 July. Venue to be decided.
Group Meeting (Wednesday 16 September). In the
Village Hall. Members encouraged to
attend. Names taken at July
meeting. Cost £3.50 to include
refreshments. Help required for the
food/entertainments. It is also a
celebration of the Centenary, being the actual day of the founding of the WI in
this country.
