Barbara
welcomed all present including Sandra Ford from County.

Minutes of Sept meeting:
The
minutes having been read by members, were agreed and signed by Barbara as a
true record.
Matters Arising:
Denman
Fund Raiser. Barbara confirmed she will host a Continental
Breakfast at her house on Friday 13 January 2017 at 10am – to include coffee,
fruit juice, croissants, etc. Price
£5. Please book in advance.
County
AGM – 22 October. Caroline & Shelagh will attend. Caroline has received many donations for the
shoebox appeal – thank you. £1 each for
Denman dip and Quiz if you want to take part – 4 quiz sheets to be ordered.
Food
Waste. 3 members took part in the on-line
questionnaire.
Fete
Rep.
Hazel confirmed the first meeting is in November and will report back to
members afterwards.
Dorothy
House. Following on from the Charity walk (and the
talk last month) Caroline confirmed that those taking part gained a Guinness World Record Title for ‘the largest gathering of people wearing
boas’.
Feedback:
Defibrillator
Training. Some WI members attended this village
event. There will be a follow-on meeting
giving more ‘hands-on’ training with the defibrillator and using CPR.
Bunting
Workshop. Caroline & Sue R attended. Enjoyed themselves.
Programme
Planning Meeting. Only Committee members were present. Hopefully, have put together an interesting
Programme for 2017.
Monthly
Coffee and Lunch. Both of these had been enjoyed.
Group
Meeting. Caroline reported that unfortunately the Hall
at Beckington had a power cut so the meeting was conducted by candle
light! There were about 35/40 people and
it went very well and members were able to produce some nice food. The Town Crier from Frome was the speaker.

(£493). Also includes holding £155 for
the Community Coffee Morning and £150 towards a Denman Bursary for any member.

Barbara
then introduced our Speaker, Mr Shepherd, who gave a very interesting and
amusing talk about his life and his passion for collecting any items ‘that
shouldn’t be thrown away’. He
incorporated a fun quiz into his talk and members had to guess singers, music
and the cost of some items.
