Minutes of June meeting:
The
minutes having been read by members, were agreed as a true record and signed by
Sue.
Matters Arising:
Photo. The new photo taken in
June is now on the Blog, thanks to Denis Pattison for taking it.
Village Fayre. Thanks were given to all cake makers, those
who helped and our representatives, Chris and Val. They will report next time
after the wash-up meeting. It was felt
that cakes did not sell very well again this time.
Diaries/Calendars. Last chance to order. Diaries £4.60, Calendars £3.50.
Feedback:
Frome Group skittles social.
A good evening with 6 from Leigh and 50 in total attending. Caroline won the ‘killer’ game.
Monthly Coffee Morning and Lunch Dates. Coffee
morning well attended and 4 at the lunch.
Garden Safari. Barbara
enjoyed the 2 gardens, in particular Spindle Cottage at Binegar.
Singing Day. Yvonne had a
lovely day singing in St Cuthbert’s Church.
The day was well attended.
County News:
Autumn
Ramble 3 October, Jane Austen event 4 October, Literary Lunch with Damien Boyd
12 October.
Members
were advised that there will still a couple of places on the County weekend
visit to Denman on 15-17 September.
Forthcoming Events:
Frome
WI Willow Evening. Monday 17th
July, Sue R to attend.
WI
Visit to Waitrose. Monday 24 July at 6.30pm, leaving Village Hall
at 6pm. Both Tom Rodford and Alastair
Weston were unable to go but 3 additional people expressed interest – Sue S,
Iris and Hazel, hence 13 in total. Jan P
had asked if anyone would like to eat out afterwards – Jeni may be interested
depending on where the meal would be and Hazel would fit in with Iris/Sue S’s
plans. Barbara to finalise.
Monthly
Lunches. Fridays 4 August and 8 September at The Bell
at 12.15pm.
President’s
Evening – Thursday 10 August at 7pm at Mary’s house. Caroline made a list of offers of savoury or
sweet food contributions.
Coffee
Morning. Monday 3 September at 9.45am.
Group
Meeting. 26 September in Frome. Entertainment by the Frukes. Caroline, Mary,
Shelagh and Sue R interested in going.
The competition is a home-made instrument (vegetables, boxes, elastic
bands etc)
Jumble
Sale – 7 October as our fundraiser
for Denman. Help will be needed from
11am to 5pm. Rota to be organised in September.
Programme
Planning Meeting – Tuesday 17 October at Caroline’s house. Please come and/or collect ideas for
speakers.

Rodford then welcomed our speaker Desi Fradgley from the charity Horseshoes and
Handprints, who gave a fascinating account of the work of the charity which provided
sensory therapy for children with a variety of conditions and their families.
