Record of Leigh on Mendip WI Meeting in the Memorial Hall on Monday 12 September 2022 at 7.30pm
Caroline welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming along.
Caroline stated that she wanted to mark the very
sad news of the death of our Queen. She
asked if members knew that the Queen was a dedicated member of the WI for
nearly 80 years. Her grandmother Queen
Mary asked for a Sandringham WI to be set up.
Queen Mary was President, followed by the Queen Mother until 2002 when
the Queen became President. She attended
meetings every January in West Newton Village Hall, signed the minutes, looked
at the competition entries and took tea with 3 ladies. A formal
obituary, statement and video from the national Chair and a link to the NFWI
condolence book have been uploaded to the NFWI website. She thanked Eddie for updating our
noticeboard then led a minute’s silence for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for
private reflection.
Apologies: Barbara, Zilda, Mary, Jan, Karen, Ann S, Betty, Trish, Gwen, Sue S, Sue R
Record of 11 July meeting: This had not been circulated prior to the meeting but was available for members to view at the meeting and would be signed.
Caroline thanked Eddie who has resigned as Committee member and Minute Taker; she was given a small thank you gift. Jo has offered to write the piece for the village magazine and was thanked. Caroline asked if anyone else like to join the Committee.

shots to submit to the Countryfile calendar.
He showed plans of how he set up the photo opportunities and the end
result of his painstaking planning – superb still photographs and interesting
films.
