Monthly Meeting 8 December 2014



Leigh on Mendip WI Meeting:  Monday 8 December 2014 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall

Welcome and Apologies:  Sue Rodford explained that as no-one has come forward to take on the role of President the Committee has agreed, as a temporary situation, that they would take it in turns to Chair the meetings.  She welcomed all members and Paula.  Apologies from Shelagh, Marguerite, Jean and Saiyeda. 
The minutes having been read by all members were agreed and signed by Sue as a true record. 

Matters Arising: 
None

Feedback
Christmas Meal – 1 December.  A very enjoyable evening
Group Carol Service and Monthly Lunch.  Both events very much enjoyed by those who went.
Winter Festival at The Bishops Palace.  Thank you to Sue for organising.  A good afternoon with a variety of really good things to see and buy, plus evening illuminations in the grounds.  There were 200 Nativity sets in St Cuthberts Church.
Coffee Morning – 8 December at Ann’s house.  A good morning.  Next one will be on 19 January with LOMCA on 26th.

Forthcoming Events
Birthday Party – 30 January, Bingo evening in the Hall.  Partners and friends welcome.  List to sign up for refreshments and prizes.
Scrapbook Year 2015 – please bring any items of local news, etc to each meeting so that a Scrapbook can be completed.  A small working party will be needed for this in due course.
January Meeting – Please bring subs (£36) and raffle prizes for the year.
Monthly Lunch – Friday 9 January at The Bell, LoM.

County News:

Visit to Morrisons Distribution Centre (4 February) – page 7.

Correspondence: 
Resolutions in WI Life Magazine (p38-41).  Please would all members bring their voting slips to the January meeting.  Mary will collate and send off.

Treasurer’s Report:  £756.02 in the Bank, £9.95 Petty Cash.  The Hall Rent & County News have been paid for 2015.

January Meeting:
Mary Mears will be ‘stand-in’ President.  Paula will be giving a talk on ‘Concrete in the New Forest’.  Refreshments – Barbara and Ann.  VOT – Jan P.

AOB: 
Foodbank – Children’s Party on 14 December at the Cheese & Grain.
Church Fair – thank you to everyone who helped and supported this event.  £510 raised.
Roy’s Funeral on Wednesday 10th and Vera’s on Friday 12th.

Mary then introduced Hyacinth Bucket (Sue R), who gave a talk and demonstration for us all on Polite Table Etiquette.  We had fun folding our own napkins.
