Monthly Meeting Monday 11 July 2016

LEIGH ON MENDIP WI MEETING: MONDAY 11th JULY 2016 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall
Barbara welcomed all present including Iris and Susan from Oakhill W.I (15 members plus 3 committee)
Apologies: Jan, Caroline, Shelagh, Eve and Val.
Health and Safety: Barbara read the fire exit rules in case of fire and also reminded members about keeping handbags under seats as they can be a trip hazard.
Minutes of June meeting: Minutes of the June meeting having been read by members, were agreed and signed by Barbara as a true record.

Matters Arising:
The Denman Fundraiser -still being discussed in committee. Suggestion of a cooked breakfast.
W.I diary and calendar money -needs to be paid ASAP by members ordering these items.
Walk around Frome Wednesday 27th July -money needs to be paid in before or brought to the walk
Merlin Theatre Trip- Shelagh looking into this at end of October on a Saturday evening to see a Shakespeare production. More details to follow.
Monthly luncheon – only 3 members were able to attend
Coffee morning – ran as normal
AGM – Brighton. Both resolutions were passed. Report from Mary has been circulated.
Village Fete- Barbara thanked everyone for their help. The treasurer reported we received £493 from fete payout.
Buckland Dinham Outing to Gloucester Docks- Shelagh and Marguerite went and reported a lovely day out.
Glastonbury Festival- Caroline took our cakes but it was a very wet weekend.
Group Event- Beckington Royal Garden Party was well attended approx. 60 ladies enjoyed cream teas. Thank you to Caroline for organising and also thanks from Nicky Amos-Trustee.

Forthcoming Events:
WI AGM – Eileen said will be in Liverpool next year and staying for 2 nights.
Open garden- Spindle Cottage Binegar 9th Aug
Flower Festival – this will be held at St. Giles Church with history display and refreshments in the memorial hall. The theme will be ‘Rhymes and Reasons’. Sat 27th Aug to Mon 29th Aug 11am – 4pm.
Concert – 7.30pm 27thAug at St. Giles Church tickets £7.50 to include canapés from Caroline or Margaret Loten
Programme planning meeting – 29th September
Bunting Workshop – At Beckington 22nd Sept 7.30pm cost £5. Need to take material, sewing machine, scissors, pins and iron. Also making paper bunting.
Group meeting- 3rd Oct Beckington. Speaker Frome Town Crier. Photo of ‘bells’ needed (7x5). 12 members can go. Names at Sept meeting. Items needed for bring and buy stall. Gill and Marguerite expressed an interest.
ACWW – coffee morning in Binegar Weds 19th October £5.
Xmas Craft Day- Run by Hazel Hillman 28th Nov at Long Sutton.
Group Carol Service – Kilmersdon Church 11 am 2nd Dec.
March Group Meeting – Competition is an egg, hand-decorated in any medium.

Arrangements for Presidents Evening: Presidents Evening- 7.30pm at Barbara’s – please tick sheet tonight if coming.
Arrangements for September Meeting:
Speaker – Dorothy House Hospice (Sue and Amy Rodford with Caroline will be taking part in the ladies sponsored Dorothy House Moonlight walk again this year. Sat 10th Sept. Tom Rodford will be a marshall)
Refreshments- Margaret N and Marguerite      Vote of thanks – Gill Baker
Birthdays: Val today, Christine 14th, Sue 22nd, and Ann O 23rd. Marguerite on the night of President’s evening
Barbara then introduced our speaker Victoria who gave a wonderful demonstration on nail and hand care.
AOB: Sparks had said hello to all as she had come back for her daughter’s wedding recently.
