September 2018 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall
Mary welcomed all our
members & Zilda to our September meeting.

Minutes of July meeting: The minutes having been read by members, were agreed as
a true record and signed by Mary.
Matters Arising:
Setting Up. Thank you to
Sue V, Marguerite & Sandra for setting up tonight. Would welcome 2 volunteers for next month.
Group Meeting – Weds 26
Sept.
We host this event just once every 3 years. 11 members are coming and have offered to
help with the organisation. There will
be a great speaker, supper and a competition (“Happy” photo – anyone who has one
to enter please contact Mary or Caroline beforehand). £3.50. We would also like to have a member lead on
singing ‘Jerusalem’. Sue V offered so
long as others would join in with her at the start.
YMCA Christmas
Shoeboxes. Unfortunately County are not able to organise
this but each Institute can go ahead on their own. Members are willing to donate items again so
Mary M will contact the local office. We
do not need to have them ready so early this time and more information will be
made available at our October meeting.
National AGM &
Resolution on “Mental Health Matters”. All members were sent an e-mail copy of the
report from our Shepton Mallet delegate and paper copies are available
tonight. We are hoping that the resolution
does not stop here. There is some
discussion on how we can get involved locally in helping. There will probably be a separate meeting –
any details to follow.
Feedback from Events:
Village Fair. The equal
share for all organisations involved was £386.
Down on previous years but the bad weather did not help. However, this funding will help to arrange the
speakers for 2019. There are some
suggestions of changing the Fair for 2019 so please give any ideas/suggestions
to Jo Carter, our Fair Rep. The first
meeting is being held on 10 October.
