Record of Meeting 10 January 2022

Record of Leigh-on-Mendip WI Meeting  -  Monday 10th January 2022 at 7.30 in the Memorial Hall

Caroline thanked everyone for coming along and explained our more stringent COVID measures.

Continuing with Hands, Space, Face along with a recommended Lateral Flow Test. We are sticking to table service for teas and coffees and masks worn when moving about. As it happens, all members kept their masks on throughout the quiz until teas were served.

We are also continuing with a pre-clean, earlier in the day and a post meeting clean of tables, chairs and WC facilities.

Record of last meeting held on December 13th: Agreed and signed.

Matters arising/feedback:

•             Feedback from our Christmas Table Decoration session was very positive. Enjoyed by all.

•             A Thank You to Mary M for organising and printing out our 2022 Program Cards.

•             2022 Resolutions have to be returned to Mary M by January 31st latest. Please see your copies of December WI Life for more information. So far 12 have been returned.

Forthcoming events:

•             Our Birthday Party on 28th January 2022 starting at 6.30 in the Bell. Celebrating with Skittles and Cake. If anyone would like to have a meal as well, please organize yourself.

County News:

•             There were a total of 400 shoe boxes across the County. A huge thank you to all who donated and helped organize.

•             On Saturday 26th March, there will be an Edwardian Tea event and talk on Edwardian gardens. Taking place in Walton near Street. Tickets £15.

•             SCFWI is running the tea tent at the forthcoming Bath & West show, 2 – 4 June 2022 (Jubilee Weekend) They need volunteers for either making cakes or serving teas. There will be free entry to the rest of the show for those serving in the tent.

Correspondence:

•             Denman on Demand is still running a wide variety of courses. Still at just £5 per session. They are now offering all courses as both on-line and recorded.

Birthdays: Jo 26th Jan

AOB:

•             LoM WI has money allocated as a bursary (£90) for educational purposes. Anyone interested in pursuing some courses, either Denman or other, please apply.

•             On Thursday 27th January at 7.30 in the Bell, there will be a fete committee meeting. Jo Carter, who represents the WI will not be around and needs someone to temporarily, take her place. There is one meeting per month up until the fete on 18th June. Sue Dunford has volunteered with Mary M as reserve.

•             Barbara asked if there would be a Jubilee committee in preparations for any celebrations. Caroline has offered to speak to the Parish Council.
