Minutes of our November meeting:  Agreed by those present to be signed as a true record.

Matters arising/feedback:

§  Thank you again for foodbank contributions – Mary had boxed up and delivered the donations to Frome Foodbank. They were delighted and had sent us a letter of thanks, mentioning increased demand and reported we had sent 30kg of goodies! (19kg in 2019). Thanks to everyone.

§  Christmas Meal at The Bell Inn last week was very enjoyable – 29 ladies present

§  Carol Festival in Wells – Tierna attended and reported it was quieter than previous years with less of an atmosphere but still enjoyed.

§  Christmas Tree Festival. Thanks for all the ideas, creating things and to those who set up and for the loan of the tree which was perfect!  Pictures were shown on the big screen.

We won Best Tree by a village organisation, and Best as voted by those who visited the Festival. We won a bundle of Christmas goodies which will be raffled off tonight – a free ticket for each member.

Forthcoming events:

§  No lunch at The Bell this month as most people already busy.

§  Subgroups stopping over the Christmas break - many thanks to those organising them

§  Birthday Party Saturday 28 January 2-4pm showing a film and an Afternoon Tea.

§  January 9th meeting will be a talk by Kilmersdon local Martin Horler on “Bygone Days – not all Beer and Skittles”

Birthdays: November Julie M 27th, December Sue A 17th, Sue S 22nd, Noelle 23rd, Roxy 1st January

AOB:

§  2023 Resolutions – 4 to choose from – in Nov WI Life magazine. Voting slip is in the magazine. This is your personal preference. All votes nationally added for the chosen one to be discussed before the AGM in May. Return slip at Jan meeting or email Mary by end Jan.

§  The 2023/4 Programme card will be handed out at the January meeting. Mary asked for a Vote of Thanks person for January (Sue R volunteered) and will sort the rest in January.

Plan for this evening plan: Business, Pantomime, refreshments, and music

Five members in appropriate headgear performed a short version of Cinderella with minimal words, monotone voices – very amusing and enjoyed by all present.

We then started to play/show videos of the music choices that members had requested - either their first, favourite or another meaningful piece. Some added a story or reason for their choices which were well received. 19 pieces played ranging from Status Quo to a Violin Concerto – all very different and enjoyable.   Teas and Christmas snacks were served in between.

Lastly the Tree Festival prizes along with some of our prize stocks were matched with “names out of a hat” and those who won prizes took them home. Others will be delivered to winners ASAP.
