Correspondence/County News:

§  National Annual Meeting will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Wednesday 5 June 10.30am-4.30pm.  No-one from Leigh on Mendip is attending.  We will be represented by Standerwick Berkely & Beckington WI.  The event can be watched online – about 8 members are interested in getting together to see some or all of it.  Caroline will investigate the logisitics.

§  Somerset Annual Meeting is on Saturday 26 October all day at Millfield School.  Good speakers planned.  A very interesting event to attend and very local for our WI.  We will give more information in due course.

AOB:  Leigh Lunch on Friday 12 April.

Welcome: Caroline welcomed Mary Cross who gave a very interesting talk with photos on the growing of the different types of Willow.  She included the history of willow in medicinal ways as well as the weaving of many different types of baskets for a wide variety of uses.   She then demonstrated the art of willow weaving on a plant support.  Mary also runs workshops nearby in Nunney and other areas.
